Quick Take

Elizabeth Lesser

Who is my personal hero? Eleanor Roosevelt. She had a difficult childhood, where nurture and care were in short supply. But she managed to come through it with her heart in tact. She had a difficult role as the first lady in a time when women were expected to take a back seat within a marriage, especially when married to the president of the United States. But she had too much intelligence to let it go to waste, so she forged her own path, set her own priorities, and did it all with her own style. She had grace, grit, humor, and love. She led like a woman.
