AN UNEXPECTED MOMENT OF JOY
By Wendy Bond
I love that you include bright moments of a loved one with Alzheimer's. It reminds me of my mother during her clear moments from the deep.
There was a time when I was frazzled, busy, exhausted and lost in caring for her and working full time. Feeling frustrated, I said to her, "Mom, I can't get my act together! This is so hard."
She lit up, looked at me and said, "Oh, honey! Are you in a play?"
I couldn't help but smile. We had always been in school plays and she was so excited for me. I couldn't help but just enjoy her joy and look at my role from a different angle.
