Radically Reframing Aging

Earlier this week, Dan Buettner posted this photo on his Instagram that made us stop scrolling immediately. This beautiful couple and Dan’s caption—“Possible lesson: double down on your lover”—reminded The Sunday Paper team of the beauty (and importance!) of love at every age. The truth is that those in a committed relationship live up to six years longer than divorced, single, or widowed people, and this photograph by Arianne Clément is an inspiring reminder of how beautiful that kind of love can be.

If you love this and want to see more inspiring images like this one, pre-order Clément’s self-published book, How to Live to 100. It’s filled with 100 images of people in the “blue zones,” the parts of the world where life expectancy is higher than elsewhere. Even better, Clément’s portraits are accompanied by testimonies in which the subjects share their reflections and give advice to future generations.
