Singer LeAnn Rimes Reveals Her Holistic Methods for Reducing Stress

by CYDNEY WEINER

Two-time Grammy Award-winning singing sensation LeAnn Rimes is no stranger to life’s stress and anxiety. Fortunately, she has learned to channel her negative energy into positive vibes using movement, breathwork, and creative candle-making.

We recently spoke with Rimes about her latest life-changing techniques.

1. What are your top tips for reducing stress and anxiety in your life?

My main methods are meditation, chanting, and breathwork. For me, meditation is really just sitting and observing all that is going on underneath and observing my thoughts. I also focus on my breath pattern because a lot of the time we’re holding our breath through life without realizing it. When I notice that I’m holding my breath, I stop to take several deep breaths in and focus on the breath itself. This almost always helps bring my anxiety down.

I’m also starting to work with my physical body in new ways through movement—whether it be dance, shaking myself out or just physical movement. This helps me move the energy through my body when I’m stressed and anxiety-ridden. I’ve found my voice in many other ways, but my body has yet to have a voice in that way.

There’s a little bit of everything, but I think the biggest piece is having some type of consistency with whatever it is that you chose to do. We’re basically re-patterning our brainwaves. There’s a whole neuroscience behind it, so the more we practice bringing our body into a new state of awareness, the easier it is to access.

2. How did you come upon these different techniques?

Many different places, but I think it all came together when I started working with my breathwork teacher, Ashley Neese, about eight years ago. She was really my introduction to wellness and helped me look at my stress, anxiety and depression from a different angle. I did plenty of talk therapy before that, which was great and definitely served its purpose, but it opened up a whole new world when I started working with it in a different way.

I’ve had many different teachers that I’ve worked with over the years, but really what I noticed is that I would always come back to being my own healer by going inward, asking myself questions, and trusting what comes up. I think that’s the biggest piece because we each know what we really need. We hear those messages, but we don’t always trust them. It’s all about learning to build that self-trust and listening to your intuition.

3. What role does health and wellness play in your life?

Wellness as a whole is really important to me because it is who and what we are. It allows me to do my job and show up in a different way as a whole human. We have this one vessel that we have to take care of and every little piece counts. We are just now getting used to talking about those parts of us that have been kind of taboo, like energetic health and mental health. Luckily it’s now all becoming more mainstream.

4. How and why did you get into candle making?

I love creating environments that breed creativity, and for me, that has a lot to do with the way we set the mood for things. Fragrance is a huge mood-setter for me, so naturally, I’ve always had a massive love for candles. I ended up getting really into how they’re made, down to making labels and finding new vessels to put them in.

Along the way, I learned that everything is a frequency and everything that we touch is made of frequencies and sound waves. So I thought if that’s the case, why can’t I put a frequency into my candles? Can they emit a frequency if they’re embedded with them? I’ve talked to quantum pharmacists and so many people that I never thought I’d be talking to about creating these candles! I’ll sit down and meditate, and then see what comes to mind through chanting. I’ll then sing this chant at a certain frequency as they’re drying and pair it with a scent that goes along with it to give the full experience.

For Valentine’s Day, I’ve created a LovE, Set Me Free candle for universal love and connection with yourself and others that are available on my blog, Soul of EverLe. The love frequency is 639 hertz which helps to heal relationships. It’s meant to evoke empathy and compassion so that hopefully when people are listening to the chant with their candle, they can get lost in the whole experience of it.

This entire process has allowed me to use my voice and creative energy in a new way. It’s really pushed me to step outside of my box and find new things that inspire me!
